Other RNG guides
Overview
Since we're just writing these guides in our free time next to whatever else is going on in our lives, progress with adding new guides is slow. For some of these, I will write up some very short instructions or important information towards the bottom of this page that will let you get your desired Pokémon if you already know how Gen 5 RNG works somewhat well. For all others, I'll link other guides.
Guide links
Following is a list of all of the latest guides for Gen 5 RNG Methods we do not yet have a guide for on this website. Some of these are fairly outdated and many still use the older program RNG Reporter, but they're the best we have at this time.

Use this video tutorial, but make sure to read all the information in the Randomly Moving NPC guide beforehand to make things A LOT easier for yourself.
BW2 Breeding
- Put two Pokemon into the daycare.
- Run around until egg.
- Save inside daycare once egg is generated.
- Find an advance you'd like to hit in Pokefinder (only filter for IVs, nature and ability, as gender and shininess are not determined on this step).
- Hit your seed and verify by using e.g. Chatot pitches; 2 of the routes 4 randomly moving NPCs are loaded in at the daycare that can advance the RNG so keep that in mind when trying to confirm the seed you hit.
- Go outside, reject the egg, bike around until you have a new egg.
- Everything except Shinyness and Gender is determined at this point. So if you don't want a Shiny and don't care for the Gender, receive egg now.
- If you want a Shiny (or care for the Gender) you go back into the daycare to save the game and then search for a seed in Pokefinders egg window, but this time only filter for shininess and gender.
- Hit your new seed and verify by using e.g. Chatot pitches. Then step out, look into the daycare man’s direction and do the remaining advances.
- Receive egg 1 Advance before your target shiny Advance. Be quick with closing the menu (best you do it using the X button whilst still in your party menu) so the RMNPCs have as little time as possible to advance.
- Hatch it and enjoy your shiny!
Roamer
There are 2 ways to RNG Roamer in Generation 5:
1. At initial spawn on Route 7
Pros:
+can RNG IVs & shiny at the same time
+easy to get any IVs of your choice
+doable during main story
Cons:
-very inconsistent to hit a specific RNG Advance making getting a shiny very difficult
2. At the Champion battle
Pros:
+very easy to get a shiny (& nature of your choice)
Cons:
-impossible to get any specific IVs at all
-can only be done in the postgame / at the end of the main story
If you want to RNG it at the initial release to get specific IVs you have 2 options on how to do it. You can either do a test run on your current savefile to find an RNG Advance that you can easily and consistently hit or you go the gambling route and just try to go for it hoping that your target shiny Advance is reachable (due to the randomized Advances of the heavy storm and the RMNPCs on the route, some RNG advances will never be hittable).
For the save test run method, follow the "Safe way" in the Roamer ID Preparations guide and for the full on gambling method, follow this video guide
If you instead just want a shiny, possibly with a specific nature, you can RNG manipulate it pretty much like any other static encounter, but with some minor differences:
- Release the Roamer on Route 7 if you haven't already. Then find it and knock it out.
- Preferably with 1 or 2 Chatot in your party, beat the elite 4 and save the game right before fighting the champion; be careful to not walk too far in before saving, otherwise the cutscene for the champ fight may begin and pull you in.
- Search for a target seed using PokeFinders Static searcher tab only filtering for shininess and possibly nature. Put the Initial Advances in PokeFinder to 20 before pressing search so you'll have enough space for the Chatot later and enough space for the Roamer to generate (more on that in step 4).
- Do the RNG as usual up until you've confirmed that you're on your target seed using a few Chatot. Make 100% sure it matches up, so that you don't have to kill
- Continue advancing the RNG until you're 7 Advances before your target Advance in PokeFinder (if your target is e.g. on Advance 70, stop on Advance 63).
- Start the battle with the champion and win.
- Find the Roamer that's now roaming through Unova again to confirm you hit the right Advance.
In theory you should also be able to RNG it right before the story finale with the N and Ghetsis battles, however I have not tested it or done any research in that regard. Generally the theory would be that instead of having to stop 7 Advances before target, you should have to stop 19 before target. This is because for the champ fight it was 1 for the usual 1 before target + 6 for the champ battle and at the end of the story you have 3 consecutive battles against Reshiram/Zekrom, N and then Ghetsis so it'd be 1+6+6+6=19. But again I have not actually tested it so I'd rather recommend you just do the postgame champ battle method.
Phenomena
Phenomena RNG is for Rustling Grass, Dust Clouds, Rippling Surfing, Rippling Fishing and Flying Pokémon's shadows.
Video example here (no explanations) at approximately 1:31:40 (target was crobat; forgot to update the graphic).
A Flying Pokémon's shadow works a little bit different than all of the other Phenomena, as the shadows spawn 4 times as often. Due to that, the RNG program does not have a prediciton for when these spawn implemented meaning you will skip steps 4, 5 and 6 and instead just gotta run around until one appears; should go relatively quickly anyways.
- Download Rambos RNG Reporter fork because it has full support for Phenomena (notable changes for the fork compared to base old RNG Reporter are that the IVrng Advances start at 0 so in the future you’d search for min/max IV Advance 0 instead of 1 AND instead of stopping 1 Advance before your target PIDrng Advance, you stop ON your target Advance).
- Search for a seed using the fitting method (dust cloud, shaking grass etc.)
- Start the RNG attempt: load your game at the right time and confirm you’re on the right seed by flipping a few Chatot.
- Take 19 steps (each step on ground that can spawn Pokémon will advance ~2 Advances so easiest to walk on ground that cannot spawn Pokemon if possible).
- Find what Advance you’re on after the steps and advance until you’re ON a Advance that’s supposed to have a dust cloud, shaking grass etc appear. You can use the frame finder feature for this. Right click into the generated Advances in the bottom half of the main window and click on gen 5 frame finder. There I recommend you only make note of mid-high/high and mid-low/low Chatters. It's also noteworthy that gen 5 frame finder always only searches all the Advances generated in the main window so don't set the max advances too low.
- Close the menu and take exactly 1 step (a dust cloud/shaking grass etc. should spawn now; if it doesn't you can either continue from step 4 with another 19 steps etc. or restart and choose a different Advance that spawns a Phenomenon).
- Walk up to it until you’re 1 step away from entering the dust cloud/shaking grass etc..
- Find what Advance you’re on again and advance until you’re ON your target Advance.
- Once on the target Advance take 1 step into the dust cloud/shaking grass etc immediately after closing the menu and the target Pokémon should appear.
